Restoration Shaman Mechanics Compendium

by Harrek

  • :chainHeal:

    • Starts on your target and then jumps on the path that would do the most overall effective hps.
    • :unleashLife: and :flowOfTheTides: increase the healing of the whole cast, while other healing buffs only increase the healing of the specific jump on a given target.
  • :healingRain:

    • Ticks on placement and on removal.
    • :acidRain: doesn't scale with haste. It also doesn't tick as soon as :healingRain: is put down.
    • :unleashLife: increases targets to 7 for both :healingRain: and :acidRain:.
  • :cloudburstTotem:

    • Doesn't collect healing from other totems, only from the shaman.
    • :chainHeal:s from :livelyTotems: and :totemicRebound: feed it, including the free :chainHeal: from casting :cloudburstTotem: itself.
    • :ascendance: duplicated healing doesn't feed into it, but the initial burst of healing from entering :ascendance: does. The same is true for :deeplyRootedElements: procs.
    • Healing when released is split evenly between all nearby allies that aren't at full HP.
    • :callOfTheAncestors: healing does not feed into it.
    • Healing from :whisperingWaves: does not feed into it.
  • :ascendance:

    • Duplicates healing coming from the shaman, not from totems.
    • Does work on healing from :livelyTotems:.
    • Does not work on healing from :callOfTheAncestors: nor :whisperingWaves:.
    • Healing is applied split to injured targets near you, not as extra casts on the original target.
  • :waterTotemMastery:

    • 16% chance on every :tidalWaves: consumption
  • :deluge:

    • "Affected by your healing rain" is simply people inside the :healingRain: area regardless of when :healingRain: last ticked.
    • For :chainHeal:, it only affects the heal on this specific target and doesn't increase subsequent jumps.
  • :ancestralVigor:

    • You maintain the same health % going up and down max hp.
  • :whisperingWaves:

    • Does not feed into :cloudburstTotem: nor gets duplicated by :ascendance:.
  • Statistics

    • 8 baseline mastery points.
    • :mastery: multiplier is 3.
  • :whirlingElements:

    • :whirlingWater: won't carry any :healingSurge: modifiers.
  • :totemicRebound:

    • Any totem is a valid jump target, even utility ones like :earthbindTotem:.
    • Is there isn't any totem in range, there is no rebound.
  • :callOfTheAncestors:

    • Ancestors use their own versions of your spells.
    • :latentWisdom: increases their spell power by 25%.
    • If playing :heedMyCall:, you can guarantee 100% uptime on one ancestor by using :unleashLife: on cooldown, and have 33% uptime on a second one by using :ancestralSwiftness: on cooldown.
    • Ancestor's :lavaBurst: will always crit regardless of if the target has :flameShock: or not.
    • Queueing :unleashLife: or :ancestralSwiftness: after a cast will make the ancestor spawned from it to respond to the spell you queued from.
    You Cast Ancestor Casts
    :riptide: :ancestorHealingSurge:
    :healingSurge: :ancestorHealingSurge:
    :healingWave: :ancestorHealingWave:
    :chainHeal: :ancestorChainHeal:
    :unleashLife: :ancestorHealingSurge:
    :cloudburstTotem: :ancestorChainHeal:
    :healingRain: :ancestorChainHeal:
    :healingTideTotem: :ancestorChainHeal:
    :flameShock: :ancestorLavaBurst:
    :lightningBolt: :ancestorLavaBurst:
    :lavaBurst: :ancestorLavaBurst:
    :chainLightning: :ancestorChainLightning:
  • :windBarrier: sometimes refreshes itself repeatedly.
  • :earthShield: does not properly stick to targets if :therazanesResilient: is talented when loading into a new instance.
  • :earthShield: can sometimes apply to more than two targets at the start of a new instance.
  • :creationCore: does not always correctly restore the last two totems used.
  • :tidecallersGuard: from :supportiveImbuements: stops working if you die until you reapply it.
  • :ancestralSwiftness: does not buff the damage from :acidRain:.
  • When using :spoutingSpirits:, :livelyTotems: will fire off two :chainHeal:s instead of the expected one. The first will happen when :spiritLinkTotem: is placed down and the second then the healing from :spoutingSpirits: occurs.
  • :tidewaters: does not feed :cloudburstTotem:.
  • :whisperingWaves: does not feed :cloudburstTotem: or :ascendance:.
  • :reactivity: makes :healingStreamTotem: heal the second target for 100% effectiveness, not 50% like the tooltip states.
  • Neither :healingWave: nor :healingSurge: modifiers apply to the target healed by :whirlingWater:.
  • :downpour: consumes :naturesSwiftness:/:ancestralSwiftness: despite being an instant cast. When this happens :downpour: will not cost mana. Other instant cast spells such as :riptide: don't consume the effect.
  • :lavaSurge: does not appear to have an increased chance to proc when :flameShock: is applied to multiple targets at the same time.
  • Using :lavaBurst: with :ancestralSwiftness: right after getting a :lavaSurge: proc will consume both the :ancestralSwiftness: and :lavaSurge: buffs on the same cast.
